About

Portia Austin is an Australian art director and graphic designer whose practice spans visual identity, editorial design, packaging, and image-making. Working with clients globally, she brings a considered, research-led approach shaped by a deep engagement with fashion, culture, and contemporary visual communication.

Portia studied Visual Communication and International Studies at the University of Technology Sydney, graduating in 2020. She has furthered her creative education at Central Saint Martins in London, completing courses in Creative Direction (2019) and Art Direction for Fashion (2024).

Her professional experience bridges in-house roles and independent practice. From 2021 to 2022 she was the senior content producer and designer at The Careers Department, where she led the creation of short-form video content and digital design. She later joined Maison Balzac as graphic designer and art director, contributing across packaging, marketing, and e-commerce from 2023 to 2024. Since transitioning fully into freelance work in 2022, Portia has collaborated with a range of fashion, beauty, and cultural clients, and currently works as a designer and art director with Studio Veronica Ditting in London.

Portia’s work is guided by an editorial sensibility that is considered, image-driven, and rooted in close collaboration with photographers, stylists, writers, and founders. Her practice encompasses graphic design, printed matter, editorial design, packaging design, and art direction, always grounded in clear ideas, refined execution, and a commitment to crafting work with enduring appeal.
